Background: | It is able to complement the radiosensitivity defect of an ataxia telangiectasia (AT) fibroblast cell line. |
Synonyms: | Tripartite motif-containing protein 29 (Ataxia telangiectasia group D-associated protein), TRIM29, ATDC |
UniProt Protein Function: | TRIM29: It is able to complement the radiosensitivity defect of an ataxia telangiectasia (AT) fibroblast cell line. Interacts with VIM and HINT1. Expressed in placenta, prostate and thymus. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Transcription factor Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q23.3 Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; intermediate filament cytoskeleton; cytoplasm Molecular Function:protein binding; zinc ion binding; p53 binding; transcription factor activity Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter |
NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the TRIM protein family. It has multiple zinc finger motifs and a leucine zipper motif. It has been proposed to form homo- or heterodimers which are involved in nucleic acid binding. Thus, it may act as a transcriptional regulatory factor involved in carcinogenesis and/or differentiation. It may also function in the suppression of radiosensitivity since it is associated with ataxia telangiectasia phenotype. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
