UniProt Protein Function: | DAPK2: an ubiquitously expressed protein kinase of the DAPK family. Activated by Ca(2+)/calmodulin. Contains a N-terminal protein kinase domain followed by a conserved calmodulin-binding domain. Overexpression induces apoptosis. Expressed at high levels in heart, lung and skeletal muscle. |
UniProt Protein Details: | Protein type:Protein kinase, CAMK; Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); EC 2.7.11.1; Kinase, protein; CAMK group; DAPK family Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 15q22.31 Cellular Component: cytoplasm Molecular Function:ATP binding; calmodulin binding; identical protein binding; protein binding; protein serine/threonine kinase activity Biological Process: anoikis; apoptosis; protein amino acid autophosphorylation; protein amino acid phosphorylation; regulation of apoptosis; regulation of autophagy |
NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the serine/threonine protein kinase family. This protein contains a N-terminal protein kinase domain followed by a conserved calmodulin-binding domain with significant similarity to that of death-associated protein kinase 1 (DAPK1), a positive regulator of programmed cell death. Overexpression of this gene was shown to induce cell apoptosis. It uses multiple polyadenylation sites. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
