IHC image of PACO57748 diluted at 1:300 and staining in paraffin-embedded human ovarian cancer performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system. | |

Background: | Mediates tyrosine nitration of secondary granule proteins in mature resting eosinophils. Shows significant inhibitory activity towards Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv by inducing bacterial fragmentation and lysis. |
Synonyms: | Eosinophil peroxidase (EPO) (EC 1.11.1.7) [Cleaved into: Eosinophil peroxidase light chain; Eosinophil peroxidase heavy chain], EPX, EPER EPO EPP |
UniProt Protein Function: | EPX: Mediates tyrosine nitration of secondary granule proteins in mature resting eosinophils. Shows significant inhibitory activity towards Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv by inducing bacterial fragmentation and lysis. Defects in EPX are the cause of eosinophil peroxidase deficiency (EPD). EPD is an autosomal recessive defect where anomalous eosinophils are characterized by nuclear hypersegmentation, hypogranulation, and negative peroxidase and phospholipid staining. Belongs to the peroxidase family. XPO subfamily. |
